DR. GREG BROWN, MD, FAPA

Dr. Greg Brown is in Private Practice as a Board Certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist in Shreveport, LA where he also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He is the Medical Director of the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home and Rehabilitation Services of Northwest Louisiana and has practiced at Brentwood Hospital in Shreveport since 1998, serving as President of the Medical Staff, Director of the Youth Services Program and Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee.
Dr. Brown attended Centenary College in Shreveport where he graduated Magna Cum Laude before completing his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1989. He moved to Tampa for the first three years of his Adult Psychiatry Residency training at the University Of South Florida College Of Medicine where he was active in the USF House Staff Association and was elected to serve as President. Dr. Brown then moved to New Orleans where he completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Tulane University Medical Center School of Medicine in 1994. During his Residency and Fellowship training Dr. Brown became active in the American Psychiatric Association and served as Chairman of the Florida Psychiatric Society Resident Committee, was elected as the Southeastern United States Member in Training Representative to the APA Assembly and served as the Assembly Liaison to the APA Joint Commission on Public Affairs at the national level.
For over 20 years, Dr. Brown has practiced Psychiatry in Shreveport treating children, adolescents and adults along with serving as a forensic psychiatric consultant and testifying in legal cases in Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas. He vigorously supports organized medicine as a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and he is a Fellow of the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association. He has served as president of the North Louisiana Chapter of the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association for two terms and served as an Executive Council Member from 1992 to 2004. Dr. Brown was elected as the Early Career Psychiatrist Representative to the APA Assembly from the Southeastern United States and was selected to participate in the first APA Executive Leadership program.
Dr. Brown serves as a Psychiatric Consultant or Psychiatric Medical Director for a number of medical institutions and as a Psychiatric Clinical Investigator with Louisiana Clinical Research, LLC, where he has participated in over 20 industry-sponsored studies on medical psychiatric treatment. He serves on the speaker’s bureau and advisory boards for a number of pharmaceutical companies, enjoys teaching medical students and residents and has been invited to present at numerous medical schools, psychiatric associations, hospitals, mental health centers, and continuing medical education symposia over the course of his career.
